GARDEN

Sarah’s backyard writing studio

I write in a blue shed in a drought-tolerant garden of mostly native California plants. We removed and replaced the lawn to save water and support habitat for insects, birds, butterflies, lizards, moths, and other creatures. The scent of wild herbs is seductive. The sculpture of cactus with the softness of sage. Olive and citrus aren’t native but do well here, too. The fountains are solar powered. The garden has been featured on CNN, the Los Angeles Times, CBS News Radio, and Voice of America television. If you write me with gardening questions, I will respond.
